Tommy Mathews

 

Sustainability is a buzz word for many, but a way of life for Tommy Mathews. Listening to him share how Westward Environmental is impacting projects around the country was interesting, but the meat of our conversation is WATER. Tommy understands our local concerns and has helped communities across Texas create a legacy of a clean and properly managed environmental infrastructure projects. As a Boerne High School graduate, Tommy invests in our heritage and our future by recruiting Boerne ISD students to be engineers and return to Boerne after college. Tommy is a staple in statewide planning conversations, knows how to roll up his sleeves and gets things done.

Tommy Mathews, PG, REM is President and founder of Westward Environmental Inc. headquartered in Boerne, Texas. Westward provides environmental, geologic, engineering, and safety consulting services to companies and non-profits across North America. Mr. Mathews has testified numerous times before the Texas Legislature, works as expert on land use issues and as a liaison between industry and community groups.

Tommy frequently serves on stakeholders and task groups at the state and national level working on various environmental issues that impact industry.  Mr. Mathews is a Registered Professional Geoscientist (PG) in five states and a Registered Environmental Manager (REM).  He serves on the Environmental Committees of the National Stone Sand and Gravel Association, Associated General Contractors of Texas, and the Texas Aggregate and Concrete Association.  He previously served 14 years as the President of the Cow Creek Groundwater Conservation District, as GMA 9 Representative, 10 years on the Board of the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority including a term as Board Chair, 9 years on the Board of the Guadalupe Blanco River Trust, and is a Board member of the BKCEDC, including a term as Board Chair.

A graduate of Boerne High School and Trinity University, with a degree in geology, Mr. Mathews is active in the community supporting numerous non-profits, conservation efforts, youth athletics, and St. Helena’s Episcopal Church.
